What Goes Away — Without “The State”
Humans face an ever-growing list of seemingly intractable problems. Most folks are still waiting for government to solve those problems, even though in the U.S. trust in government is at an all-time low of 17%. The main place people forget to look for the source of problems is the government itself.
Every government in history has been corrupt, because every government depends on involuntary taxation, which is coercive and therefore immoral. So every government is, from the start, corrupt by definition.
I have been keeping a list for a long time of daunting issues which would actually disappear when authoritarian government is gone. I have also spent the last 15 years investigating how humans could successfully self-organize without a few people being given rights that the rest don’t have and then ruling over them in the name of… Government.
How a truly voluntary and non-coercive society would work and how we could get there from here are huge subjects that I will be covering in my upcoming book, but for now, let’s just imagine that independent organizations (conflict resolution, insurance, security, media, food, education, health…), competing in a true free market and all held accountable to the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP), could handle what today we think we need to count on government to do.
I am in no way advocating for a violent overthrow of government, but for a peaceful obsoleting of authority and transition to viable voluntary, independent options in every sector.
So, give your heart and mind a break from the confusion and overwhelm of our news headlines for a few minutes and allow yourself to imagine each of these incorrigible issues gone… poof… in the rear view mirror, over the horizon.
